Jacob Smith founded Longleaf Consulting based in Austin, Texas, in December 2018. He started the business after establishing a long and successful career in Texas politics.
His Association with Mostyn Law Firm
In 2008, Jacob had the privilege to become a part of the Mostyn Law Firm in Houston, Texas, founded by Amber and the late Steve Mostyn. Through the example set forth by the formidable Mostyn team, Jacob continued to build on his values of advocating on behalf of clients, honorably and faithfully. He represented Mostyn Law Firm on numerous local and statewide campaigns, as well as various legislative projects.
After advancing within the law firm, Jacob moved to Austin to assist the Mostyns with political and legislative advocacy. He also supported Mr. Mostyn, then president of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association.

In 2013, he shifted his career path and joined a local strategic communication and lobby firm. He focused his efforts on several high-profile industries.
He worked jointly with a strategic association management firm during this time and gained a deeper understanding of associations and non-profit management.

He fiercely advocated on behalf of TACL members and the consumers of Texas until he transitioned to a large, highly-regarded lobby firm in 2017. At this government affairs firm, Jacob continued to expand his reach and knowledge. He continued research and advocacy for various associations, family offices, and fortune 500 companies.
His Beliefs
His initial introduction to the political world occurred during a local campaign while in high school. That opportunity in Beaumont, Texas formed the basis for political advocacy and values to which Jacob still abides.
He believes in the experience and proven government relations strategy and relationships, which are required to be successful within the Texas Capitol.
